A caterpillar by any other name is a… butterfly?

We have been asked “Why is there a butterfly on your website?” That’s a fair enough question. So, why do we have a butterfly on our website? Let me take a minute or two of your time and show you why.

Caterpillars are slimy, nasty little creature that feed off of plant life in order to live. After a certain amount of time, they form a cocoon, and within that cocoon morph into another creature: a butterfly. It is to me an amazing thing so see a creature that is so nasty and vile become another creature that is so beautiful and majestic as a butterfly. Just the same, a man (or woman) who is a vile, dirty, rotten sinner can become a new, beautiful creature through Christ. How? Well, let me tell you.

My friend, every human being on the face of this planet is a nasty, vile creature (“But we are all as an unclean thing, and all our righteousnesses are as filthy rags; and we all do fade as a leaf; and our iniquities, like the wind, have taken us away.” – Isaiah 64:6; “As it is written, There is none righteous, no, not one:” – Romans 3:10). There is nothing that a person can do to make themselves righteous or holy; all mankind is born unrighteous, just like the caterpillar (4How then can man be justified with God? or how can he be clean that is born of a woman? 5Behold even to the moon, and it shineth not; yea, the stars are not pure in his sight. 6How much less man, that is a worm? and the son of man, which is a worm?” – Job 25:4-6; Behold, I was shapen in iniquity; and in sin did my mother conceive me.” Psalm 51:5; “For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God;” – Romans 3:23; Also see above references of Isaiah 64:6 and Romans 3:10). Jesus Christ through His perfect, sinless life, His sacrificial death upon the cross for our sins, His burial in the tomb, and His resurrection from the dead, through His own power, provides the way for us (“For we have not an high priest [Jesus Christ] which cannot be touched with the feeling of our infirmities; but was in all points tempted like as we are, yet without sin.” – Hebrews 4:15; “16For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son [Jesus Christ], that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. 17For God sent not his Son [Jesus Christ] into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved. 18He that believeth on him is not condemned: but he that believeth not is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God [Jesus Christ]. – John 3:16-18). What way did Jesus prepare for us? The way for us to become new creatures through Him. The Bible says in the New Testament in the book of 2nd Corinthians chapter 5 and verse 17, “Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.” When a person accepts the sacrifice that Jesus Christ made for ALL sins on the cross, and asks Jesus to save them, they become a new creature, they are reborn, through His blood sacrifice, just as the caterpillar, through the cocoon, becomes a butterfly (“5Jesus answered, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born of water and of the Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God. 6That which is born of the flesh is flesh; and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit. 7Marvel not that I said unto thee, Ye must be born again.” – John 3:5-7; “9That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. 10For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation. 13For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.” – Romans 10:9,10,&13; “But he was wounded for our transgressions, he was bruised for our iniquities: the chastisement of our peace was upon him; and with his stripes we are healed.” Isaiah 53:5; “But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship one with another, and the blood of Jesus Christ his Son cleanseth us from all sin.” – 1st John 5:7). But the difference between the butterfly and the Christian is that Jesus Christ, unlike the cocoon, will always be with the Christian (“[…] for he [Jesus Christ] hath said, I will never leave thee, nor forsake thee.” – Hebrews 13:5).

You might say or even think to yourself that you can go some other way to heaven that you don’t need to be a new creature, or be born again. My friend, without the blood of Jesus Christ and accepting Him, there is no other way to Heaven, there is no other atonement for sin (“Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved.” – Acts 4:12; “For there is one God, and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus;” 1st Timothy 2:5). The only destination after the rejection of Jesus Christ is Hell. I have said all of this to tell you, friend, that Jesus Christ is the only way to God. You don’t have to go to Hell, you don’t have to live in sin searching for satisfaction from something that will never fully satisfy you (“Choosing rather to suffer affliction with the people of God, than to enjoy the pleasures of sin for a season;” – Hebrew 11:25; “Then when lust hath conceived, it bringeth forth sin: and sin, when it is finished, bringeth forth death.” – James 1:15; “8But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us. 11And not only so, but we also joy in God through our Lord Jesus Christ, by whom we have now received the atonement.” – Romans 5:8&11).

Jesus Christ is the answer; the question is will YOU accept Him?

12And I saw the dead, small and great, stand before God; and the books were opened: and another book was opened, which is the book of life: […]. 15And whosoever was not found written in the book of life was cast into the lake of fire. – Revelation 20:12&15”
